Our history
E-ETHYLENE is the result of five years of research and development by Damien Voiry’s team at the European Institute of Membranes, initiated with an ERC Starting Grant in 2018. Over the next four years, the project achieved several milestones, including the registration of two patents in 2020 and 2022. The support from a technology transfer organization (SATT AxLR Occitanie Méditerranée) accelerated the project with the recruitment of a full team and the incorporation of the start-up in 2023.
Laboratory
E-ETHYLENE is hosted in the European Institute of Membrane (IEM) in Montpellier University, where Dr. Damien Voiry runs his research activities. More than just the infrastructure, we benefit from the internationally recognized expertise of the institute in the areas of materials and membrane processes.
Team
Alfonso Moriello
Alfonso Morriello has extensive experience in both the traditional oil and gas and the energy transition sector, having served as CEO and board member for companies in this area, from startups to listed companies. Alfonso holds an MSc in electronics engineer (”La Sapienza”, Rome, Italy) and an MBA (INSEAD, France).
Damien Voiry, PhD: Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Damien Voiry holds a PhD in Material Engineering and Science from Bordeaux University. He is a CNRS research director since 2023 at the University of Montpellier
Robin Gueret, PhD: R&D Manager
Robin earned his PhD from Grenoble Alpes University and completed multiple postdoctoral research positions at Lille University and Stockholm University, with his work at Stockholm focusing on CO2 conversion. He joined Satt Axlr and E-Ethylene as R&D manager in August 2022.
Sponsors and partnerships
Since its creation, E-ETHYLENE has secured several partnerships and sponsors, in both public and private sectors. In France, the host laboratory IEM, the CNRS and Satt Axlr offer support in both financial and legal departments. We collaborate with several research institutes such as TNO from The Netherlands and industrial players from the petrochemical sector across Europe.
